Julian Jonas Schmitt is a Berlin based Director of Photography. He studied art and film at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK), the Californian Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles (CalArts) and the German Film- and Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. In the intensive examination of narrative visual languages and the aesthetic and political premises of filmmaking, he realized numerous narrative films, commercial projects, musicvideos as well as documentary and experimental formats together with directors from around the world. His collaborations have resulted in immersive works for clients as Mercedes Benz, Moncler, Ottolinger, Boss, MCM, Puma, Fila, Zalando, Givenchy as well as artists such as Faber, Berq, OG Keemo and Ahzumjot to name just a few.
